Anka Roberto is an EMDR certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and a nurse for over 23 years, close to 10 of which have been in the field of psychiatry. She received her bachelor’s degree (BSN) in nursing from Fairfield University School of Nursing in 1999, her dual master’s degree in nursing and public health (MSN/MPH) from Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing in 2005, and her doctoral degree (DNP) from Fairfield University School of Nursing in 2016. She was trained in EMDR upon commencement of her doctoral studies, continued in specialized training of various protocols of EMDR, and is a certified EMDR provider. Her faith in God has personally allowed her to grow and heal from her own adversity as her approach comes from a learned experience. She has authored book chapters and peer-reviewed journal articles on trauma, resilience, spirituality, and the use of EMDR in healing. She is also an Associate Professor at UNCW in the School of Nursing as the BSN-DNP, PMHNP program concentration lead while maintaining her private practice. Her research informs her practice, and her practice informs her teaching. God is at the center of all she does. She is committed to the well-being of local residents of North Carolina and her home state of Connecticut, as she provides both in-person and telehealth services to clients in both states.

Anka is a first-generation Croatian-American who takes pride in her cultural origins. She travels back to Croatia as much as she can as she attempts to live her best life. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, camping, hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding, and all things outdoors, where she feels the most connected to her heavenly father.
